Sharing our Harvest - October 2016

On Friday 7th October 2016 we had a packed hall of parents, friends and family eager to take part in our Harvest Assembly. We had an impressive array of harvest gifts ready to donate to the Shekinah Mission. They are a local charity supporting homeless people in our city. The school supports this charity every year. As part of our assembly the children reflect on why it is so important to share with others not as fortunate as us.Thank you to all the parents for your very generous contributions.

The children from Willow Class made a trip to the allotment during the week to harvest the wonderful crops of fruit and vegetables as part of our school donation. This included marrows, carrots, onions, leeks, pumpkins, potatoes, tomatoes, apples and beetroot. Thank you very much to Bill for taking such good care of our allotment.

Healthy Child Quality Mark – September 2016

Over the summer we received the very good news that Oakwood has now passed the Bronze Process for the Healthy Child Quality Mark. The school had to submit a comprehensive audit which was quality assured by the HCQM Team. This audit included evidence and information regarding fitness and PE, promoting healthy eating, developing outdoor learning and general well-being in our school to name but a few. Mrs Cresswell compiled and co-ordinated the information for this detailed audit, so a big thank you for such a successful outcome! Our HCQM Bronze Plaque will be delivered to Oakwood shortly and will be displayed in our entrance area. This demonstrates our continued commitment in developing our children socially as part of our SMSC curriculum. Well done to everyone.
