Scrumdiddlyumptious was the topic in term 2. (We had fun trying to spell that!)
In science we investigated which chocolate melted the quickest, plain chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate. Which do YOU think would melt the quickest?
This term we are finding out about the Ancient Egyptians so watch this space for information about pyramids, mummies, Gods and Pharaohs....
Here we are travelling back 5ooo years to spend a day in the life of an Ancient Egyptian. We enjoyed a fun-filled day and we learnt so many interesting facts.
We tried to identify genuine or replica artefacts, some of us were quite good at this!
Next there was a piece of pottery which had broken and our job was to see if we could put the pieces back together and restore the pot. This was DIFFICULT and a real challenge, it made us realise what a difficult job archaeologists have. After this we sketched some artefacts and finally we identified and learnt about some of their Gods.
But the best bit of the whole day was the mummification process and role playing all the different jobs involved in each stage.
On Wednesday 10th February Willow class went down to our school bird hide to spot and identify as many birds as we could. We went prepared with binoculars, bird books and a bird spotter's guide book. We did this as part of the RSPB survey of the most common British birds.
Crows, wood pigeons, blue-tits, herring gulls, magpies, robins, a long-tailed tit, and a chaffinch were the birds we saw. We learnt to identify these different birds and most importantly to be quiet! We had a lot of fun despite the pouring rain and strong wind.
