Welcome to Hazel Class 2015-2016
Welcome to Hazel Class Page!
Mrs Harvey & Mrs Collier
Welcome to Hazel Classes learning and sharing page.
From time to time we will update this page with some of the activities and learning we are doing in and out of class.
We hope you enjoy looking at what we have been doing in our curriculum.
On Wednesday 13th July we dressed up as Greeks for our topic themed day. We built Greek buildings out of paper and cellotape (as we didn't have any of the bricks they used in Greek times!)
We also tasted Greek food and experienced some Greek sport.
It was a great day!
Monday 14th June 2016 - Sir John Hunt Lead Learners Day!
What an amazing day all the Year 5's had!
The Year 5's mixed with other Plymouth based Primary Schools and were put into groups based on Countries. They then rotated around a range of Sports / Maths, Science and Art /MFL activities. They all collected points for their Country based on effort and achievement.
Well done to Leonie and Lucy as they were a member of the winning Denmark team. They came back to school with a very shiny medal!
This term we are learning about Forces in Science and The Victorians in Topic!
We have lots of exciting experiments to do to examine how forces work and we will be researching Sir Isaac Newton and his theories of motion.
We will also be reading a variety of fiction and non fiction in Literacy and examining how we can use different writing techniques to improve our own writing.
As always we will also have a strong focus on our times tables, spellings and handwriting!
Remember to have a go at your Mathletics games at home too! You can play live and challenge other players!
There is a Mathletics app that can be downloaded to make this easier!
Last term we learnt about the Tudors. We researched Henry VIII and his family, learnt a Tudor dance and song, went to visit a Tudor house (Cotehele) and produced an amazing assembly!
In science we have been learning about the Five Kingdoms, especially focusing Protoctista Kingdom. We conducted an experiment to find out how yeast (a micro-organism that we have been learning about) works.
