At Oakwood Primary Academy, we believe that every school day should begin with a warm welcome and be filled with exciting opportunities to learn, grow and achieve.
Our school day is carefully structured to provide children with engaging learning experiences, opportunities to develop friendships and time to enjoy being part of our Oakwood family.
We value our strong relationships with parents and carers and look forward to welcoming our children into school each morning.
Starting the School Day
A Warm Welcome Every Morning
Our school gates open at 8:30am, giving families time to arrive and children the opportunity to settle into the school morning.
Teachers are available on the playground during this time, providing a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to speak with their child's class teacher, share important information or ask any quick questions.
At 8:40am, the school bell rings and children line up with their class teacher on the playground before walking into school together, ready to begin their learning.
We kindly ask families to arrive promptly so that children can enjoy a calm and positive start to their day.

Our school day runs from 8:40am to 3:30pm, providing 34 hours and 10 minutes of school time each week.
Breaktimes – Time to Play and Recharge!
We recognise that play is an important part of children's learning, development and wellbeing.
Our school day includes two morning breaktimes:

First break: 10:00am – 10:10am

Second break: 11:10am – 11:20am
These breaks provide opportunities for children to enjoy fresh air, spend time with their friends and recharge before returning to their learning.
Lunchtime – Food, Friends and Fun
Our lunchtime runs from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
Lunchtime provides children with an opportunity to enjoy a nutritious meal, relax with friends and take a well-deserved break from their learning.
Our school meals are provided by ABM Catering through their GROW – Fuel for Young Minds service, offering freshly prepared meals and a variety of nutritious choices.
Children may also bring a packed lunch from home.

End of the School Day
A Happy End to a Busy Day
Our school day finishes at 3:30pm.
The school gates open between 3:25pm and 3:30pm, allowing parents and carers to enter the playground ready to collect their children.
At the end of the day, all classes line up on the playground with their class teachers.
Children are then dismissed by their class teacher to their parent or carer, ensuring a calm and organised end to the school day.
We kindly ask families to arrive promptly for collection and to allow teachers to dismiss children safely.
Wraparound Care – Here to Support Our Families
We understand that family life can be busy, and we are pleased to offer wraparound care before and after the school day.
Our Early Birds and Busy Bees clubs provide a safe, nurturing and enjoyable environment where children can spend time with friends, enjoy activities and receive care outside normal school hours.
Early Birds Breakfast Club
7:00am – 8:40am
A happy and welcoming start to the school day, with breakfast, games and activities to help children feel ready for learning.
Busy Bees After School Club
3:30pm – 5:30pm
A fun and friendly end to the day, with exciting activities, snacks, reading and opportunities to spend time with friends.
All wraparound care sessions must be booked and paid for in advance through ParentPay.
